#CulturedKids January 2018

Happy New Year! January has started with a bang for us. We’re back fresh from the slopes at Passo Tonale, Italy, and raring to go. Skiing aside, the end of 2017 was a busy time for us, with a festive trip to Leeds Castle in Kent, as well as  Greenwich Theatre’s Pantomime, Cinderella; the Showstoppers kids’ Christmas show in Leicester Square; and Snow White and Rose Red at Battersea Arts Centre. I was intrigued by RashDash’s performance in Battersea, so I’ve linked it up with this month’s Cultured Kids.

How was your festive season? I hope you managed to find some time for cultural merriment, in amongst all the present-giving and pudding-eating. I’m dying to find out what everyone got up to – it really is a wonderful time of year, for theatre and museums especially. I’m hosting today, but do head over to Catherine’s Cultural Wednesdays if you’d like to find out which of last month’s posts she liked the most.

As for me, I was particularly taken with these articles:

Christmas in New York, by Fifi and Hop. Corey’s blog is one of my all-time favourites, and she does a splendid job of bringing to life all that the USA has to offer to families. This post on NY was particularly enticing. I need to make sure we visit during next year’s festive season.

Christmas at York Museum Gardens: is it worth it? by Wandermust Family. Leona asked some pertinent questions about the suitability of York’s Christmas attraction to very young visitors.

My third favourite wasn’t a festive post, but one by a writer that you really need to follow, if you aren’t already. Janice at Scots 2 Travel takes a wry, incisive look at attraction both in Scotland and abroad. In this post she discovers the Falkirk Wheel, a relatively little-known piece of engineering that’s bound to captivate youngsters.

What have you been up to this month? Have you visited any museums, galleries, historic places or theatre shows? Please do link up your posts in the January linky below. We’ll be looking out for images shared on Instagram using #CulturedKids – and if you’d like an invitation to pin to the #CulturedKids Pinterest Board, let us know (we’ll be pinning any posts with pins there anyway).

Here’s how it works:
