Love family travel? Here are the best instagram accounts to follow – all run by wonderful women!

best instagram accounts

If you thought Instagram was all about Instagram celebrities, and people vying for the most followers, then think again. The best instagram accounts to follow, if you enjoy travelling with your family, are linked to some of my favourite female travel blogs.

These blogs are all put together by talented women who are experts in their field. They include uplifting accounts of family travel, and tips to get round the inevitable pitfalls. And check out these bloggers’ beautiful, soul-stirring, powerful and poignant IG feeds. They include some of my all-time favourites, and lots of them are run by women I’m lucky enough to call my friends.

Beautiful Flam, set in a stunning location on the edge of a fjord. It is probably one of the most visited fjord destinations in Norway. Busy during the day as it’s a major cruise ship stop-over, as well as a popular stop on the Norway in a Nutshell tour. 500,000 visitors per year! .. .. However, every evening when the cruise ships and coach tours depart it’s a quiet, tiny village, in the most beautiful location. Peace and harmony over looking the water. .. .. Have you been to Flam? If you’re planning a visit make sure you stay overnight. Writing our stay up as a blog post today – should be ready tomorrow. .. .. .. #flam #aurlandsfjord #norwayinanutshell #flamsbana #fjordsofnorway #thefjords #norway #norge #visitnorway #familytravel #familytravelblogger #bringthekids #getoutside #beautifuldestinations #travelmadfam #lppathfinders #lpkids #fearlessfamtrav #explorerkids #showthemtheworld #neverstopexploring #traveljunkies #travelkids #traveltheworld #loveourtimetogether #goadventuretogether #goeverywhere #adventurekids #kidslovetravel #takeyourkidseverywhere

Down and round and round and down. This spiral staircase is at the heart of City Hall in London, it descends (well it also ascends but I descended) for 500 metres connecting the whole building with the debating chamber. We explored the Norman Foster building as part of Open House London. Another transformed part of London, when I first came this whole area was derelict wharfs hidden behind high wooden walls. #openhouselondon #archiecture #archdaily #archiecturephotography #architecturelovers #spiralstaircase #bitsofbuildings #igerslondon #thisislondon #hq_uk #ilovelondon #ig_london #timeoutlondon #visitlondon #shutup_london #londonlife #maybeldner #prettycitylondon #londonbylondoners #londonlocal #londonisopen #mysecretlondon #londonreviewed #instalondon #london4all #londonist #trips100 #snaphappybritmums

It’s just starting to look a bit autumnal here in Hertfordshire. So what better time to begin planning a new adventure. My monthly travel blog link up Family Friendly Stays is now live (link in bio). If you’ve stayed somewhere brilliant with your kids which you’d like to share come and link up. Perhaps it’s a villa which you spent ages researching on the net or maybe it’s a little hotel you stopped off at half way across France, it doesn’t need to be an all singing all dancing kid-friendly place, just somewhere which worked for your family. If you don’t have a blog, just tag an image of the property on IG with #familyfriendlystays to highlight it. . . . #familyfriendly #travel #familytravel #travelwithkids #familytravelblogger #familytravelblog #familyholiday #familyvilla #familyhotel #kidfriendlytravel #parentblogger #parenting

M E M O R I E S – I’m still clinging on to every last minute of the holidays – I’ve loved having all three of my babies at home – it’s been a little crazy at times and the adults are slightly frazzled (including the grandparents 😉) but I wouldn’t change a thing!} We enjoyed a fab #coastaladventure last weekend, an opportunity to enjoy the Cornish Coast before the chaos of the school run starts next week (ad). Do you get the post holiday blues? We’ve only been back in the UK a few days and I’m already longing for Greek island idylls like this gorgeous harbour at Heronissis on the island of Sifnos. We spent hours here – reading on the beach, taking photos and eating a seafood lunch overlooking the water. It all seems a long time ago now. I haven’t picked up a book since I finished Arundhati Roy’s brilliant new novel in the airport departure lounge. I’ve spent the last few days shopping for new school uniforms, pencil cases and school shoes and trying to get two weeks of holiday washing dry in between the rain showers. On the plus side, one of the boys has decided he needs to make a Death by Chocolate cake so provided he doesn’t cause too much destruction in the kitchen, the day should end well… @youareheresifnos @visitgreecegr @discover.greece @cyclades_islands @beautifulcyclades #ttot

A post shared by Clare Thomson (@suitcasesandsandcastles) on

Clare’s grid is filled with colour and family travel inspiration from Greek islands to UK beaches, European city breaks to fun cultural finds.

Katja’s just as likely to share trips from far-flung lands as she is days out in London and is a firm believer that you can – and should! – take your kids everywhere.

Great day out today with friends at @sundown.adventureland . I only heard of this place recently despite it being 50 years old! (and it’s only 50 minutes from where I live.) It’s a theme park for under 10’s which we all thoroughly enjoyed. Each area has a theme from the Wild West, to Robin Hood, Toy Town, Pirates, Fairytales and so much more (including amazing play areas!) We paid for this ourselves and thought it was pretty good value. The new Safari drive (kids get to drive their own car with simple stop and go pedals) was a huge hit as was the fairytale village. Lots of interactive things to do which made familiar tales come alive! Urquhart Castle is in a fairytale location, on the banks of Loch Ness. But the beautiful ruins hide a bloody past. On our Rebellion Tour with Loch Ness by Jacobite, we learned how the castle saw battles between Scots and English, Royalists and Jacobites. You’d never have guessed that from the peaceful, beautiful views, though. Our tour gave us a two-hour window to explore the towers, dungeons and grassy banks of the castle before we sailed back to Dochgarroch Lock. The time just flew by. #ad #presstrip . . . . . #urquhartcastle #lochness #MoreThanAMonster #scotland #visitscotland #lovescotland #scotlandisnow #YOYP2018 #travel #familytravel #guardiantravelsnaps #bbctravel #culturetrip #ukexplore #ukftb #ftb100 #wanderlust #travelmore #highlands #scottishhighlands #familytravelblogger #parentbloggersuk #snaphappybritmums #traveltheworld #culturedkids #travelwithkids #travelblogger #historicscotland
