I’ve really missed my son since he started school. So I decided to make this half-term holiday a proper break – no blogging, just the occasional email or tweet to let people know that I hadn’t been eaten by Hallowe’en ghosties. Of course, we’ve been on Instagram a bit; that’s usually the place to find us, when all goes quiet here.
But I couldn’t resist posting this little snippet: a few leftover shots from our Summer holiday. On our last day at Levante, Rhodes, Austin and I discovered a new pool, around the corner from the five that were outside our suite (yes, that’s right – we had five pools to choose from). I think it actually belonged to the resort next door, but apparently they didn’t mind us using it.
It was one of those pools with a huge splashy water-tower, which you see in a lot of southern European resorts. I do love the warmer bits of this continent for these. Even as a grown-up, slippery slides, and water cascading onto your head, are a terrific amount of fun.
This particular pool’s tower was pirate themed, with a bucket on top that started off like this:
Every few seconds, the bucket filled with water and upturned:
We had about four hours to fill until our coach left for the airport. Austin and I spent a good hour of that time splashing around, slathered in factor 50 while D and Gwen played in the toddler pool. It was one of the best mornings of my year.
