Destination features

I worked with Loch Ness by Jacobite and Visit Scotland to showcase the Scottish Highlands as an exciting, varied destination for families:

Things for families to do in Loch Ness and the Scottish Highlands

Urquhart Castle is in a fairytale location, on the banks of Loch Ness. But the beautiful ruins hide a bloody past. On our Rebellion Tour with Loch Ness by Jacobite, we learned how the castle saw battles between Scots and English, Royalists and Jacobites. You’d never have guessed that from the peaceful, beautiful views, though. Our tour gave us a two-hour window to explore the towers, dungeons and grassy banks of the castle before we sailed back to Dochgarroch Lock. The time just flew by. #ad #presstrip . . . . . #urquhartcastle #lochness #MoreThanAMonster #scotland #visitscotland #lovescotland #scotlandisnow #YOYP2018 #travel #familytravel #guardiantravelsnaps #bbctravel #culturetrip #ukexplore #ukftb #ftb100 #wanderlust #travelmore #highlands #scottishhighlands #familytravelblogger #parentbloggersuk #snaphappybritmums #traveltheworld #culturedkids #travelwithkids #travelblogger #historicscotland

This campaign had a reach of over 200,000 users.

I worked with the Champagne-Ardenne Tourist Board in France to highlight the attractions of the French Ardennes:

The Ardennes France: why it’s one of the best places to visit in France with kids

The best hotels and restaurants in the Ardennes, France

We saw the Ardennes from all perspectives yesterday. This is the River Meuse, looping through the valley. We were up at La Roche à Sept Heures, a viewpoint where the light is particularly good at 7am – hence the name. I didn’t take this at 7am, but I still think it’s pretty beautiful, eh? Just before driving up to Sept Heures, we canoed for an hour down the River Semoy, past ducks, geese, swans and herons. Then we travelled on to Montherme, to pick up bikes so we could cycle part of the Trans-Ardennes cycle path, along the banks of the River Meuse. And then it all got a bit extreme. We drove to TerrAltitude, to ride France’s longest zip wire: 1km at 120KPH, high above the forest. It was terrifying at first, but then EXCELLENT. If you want to see a clip of my flight, check out stories. I’m still quivering! . . . . #ArdennesFamilies #presstrip #ad #travel #familytravel #britmums #Ardennes #France #Meuse #Montherme #larocheaseptheures #culturetrip #guardiantravelsnaps #bbctravel #snaphappybritmums #wanderlust #ardenne #champagneardenne #lovetravel #igersfrance #nature #spring #travelmore #traveldeeper #adventureeverywhere #lonelyplanet #lppathfinders #lpkids #ukftb

Hotel and accommodation reviews

I worked with Canvas Holidays to profile their holiday accommodation at Duinrell Theme Park in the Netherlands.

Duinrell Canvas Holidays: what to expect from a family holiday at the Holland theme park

Yesterday was a day with a few changes of plan, and a surprise. We’d planned to go to Amsterdam (it’s 40 mins away), but decided to stay local as it’s been so enjoyable and relaxing just playing at Duinrell. But torrential rain hit in the morning, so we headed to Leiden to check out the Windmill Museum, which you can see in this pic, and Leiden market. You can’t beat a soggy traipse round a market! We found a stall selling the most delicious poffertjes. The small pancake puffs with icing sugar and Nutella were soooo good….. then it was back to Duinrell for lunch, and the daily illusionist show with zany characters Scott and Muriel. The sun had come out by the time we emerged, so we managed to fit in a few of Duinrell’s rides before the park closed. In amongst all this I had the VERY exciting news that the Pigeon Pair and Me is in the Vuelio top 10 for family travel. This is the fourth year in a row that I’ve appeared in the list, and it really is an honour. Vuelio are rigorous in their selection process, and I’m thrilled to have made the grade again. . . . . . . #ad #canvasholidays #leiden #windmill #windmillmuseum #devalk #molenmuseumdevalk #duinrell #duinrellwassenaar #holland #visitholland #travel #visitleiden #familytravel #bbctravel #snaphappybritmums #traveltheworld #summerholidays #travelwithkids #wanderlust #travelblogger #lpkids #beautifuldestinations #travelmum #instagram #natgeokids #traveldeeper #culturetrip #guardiantravelsnaps #familytravelblog

As part of a family ski trip with the Austrian National Tourist Office and Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis mountain resort, I profiled Hotel Bär, a Kinderhotel in the Tyrol.

Features on family days out

We explored the Norfolk seaside town of Cromer as part of a collaboration with Hemsby Beach Holiday Park.

Days out in Norfolk: Cromer, north Norfolk

Such a pretty town, Cromer in north Norfolk is one of those places that has much more to it than first sight. On our weekend trip to Hemsby Beach Holiday Park we spent a delicious day on Cromer beach, in the museum, checking out the 19th century lifeboat station that still makes rescues, and wandering on the pier. Plus eating ice cream, of course! I've written about things to do in Cromer on the website.
