(ad) WOW! When I was playing round with the new app, MINE, I found out that a holiday company I travelled with BACK IN 2014 was still hanging onto my data! Through MINE I sent them a message to say: I'll have that back, please! It's fine if there's a sound reason for a company to have my details (contact tracing springs to mind, for instance)... but sometimes it's just unnecessary. If you swipe on the picture you'll see what I discovered via MINE - 179 different companies hold my financial data, identity info, stuff about my online behaviour.... 😬 Do YOU know which companies are holding onto your personal information? It’s grey here in London, but we’ve been indoors, enjoying ourselves at the Imagine Children’s Festival at the Southbank Centre. It’s 12 days of international performance, music, literature, and comedy for children of all ages. Imagine’s always buzzing with families, and it’s been so successful that it’s now into its 19th year.
The Southbank Centre gave us some review tickets for sessions, and we paid for other stuff ourselves. Top of our list was our hour with Robin Stevens, author of the Murder Most Unladylike series. It inspired the kids to get their pens out the minute we got home, and start writing detective novels 😊. Also a hit was Soundpit, a sensory installation in a darkened room with music, light and sand. My 10 year old was sceptical, but he came out saying he loved it.....Have YOU been to Imagine?

This week we are in London.... I took this shot in the Tate Modern Members’ Room, which has fantastic views over the city. Hanging out at the Tate is just one of the things we’ll be doing in our #halfterm week in London. Today we’re heading to the Southbank Centre for their Imagine Festival. It’s an annual celebration of children’s books, music, drama and it’s always fun, with face painting and lots of free sessions as well as some where you have to pay. Beautiful Leiden..... on the website I’ve posted a feature about Leiden, the Dutch town that shares some attractions with Amsterdam - canals, bridges, cobbled streets and all the delicious Dutch cheeses you can fit into your bicycle’s front basket. But it has a much quieter, more gentle pace. There are still plenty of things to see and do in Leiden, from taking a stroll in Holland’s oldest botanical gardens to exploring a museum of the human body shaped like a giant....you get to walk around inside its internal organs 😊. Walk like an Egyptian..... on Friday I picked my daughter up from school and we went to the Tutankhamun exhibition in the Saatchi Gallery. I’d heard that even though it was magnificent, it might be a bit overwhelming for a 7 year-old. But she loved it! We strolled through five galleries of gleaming artefacts unearthed from Tutankhamun’s tomb at the beginning of the last century. The golden statues, ornate jewellery and intricately carved caskets were lit up by glowing lights, with soft ambient music. Compared with the clatter of some museums, I found the whole experience pretty relaxing.... and my daughter learnt loads about Ancient Egypt, which she’s studying at school this term. Ticket prices aren’t cheap, but I’d say they’re worth it for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to catch these treasures. Have you been to see Tutankhamun? .
