Decent stories always seem to make comebacks. That’s also true of those that began as TV shows. The Clangers and Thunderbirds are two children’s programmes from the 1960s that relaunched successfully in the 2010s. It seemed inevitable that Noggin the Nog – by Peter Firmin and Oliver Postgate, who also developed The Clangers – would also be a hit with the youngsters of today.
And the stage show has been a very big hit indeed. Third Party Productions performed Noggin the Nog in Edinburgh, to huge critical acclaim. The show has now come to the Rose Theatre, Kingston Upon Thames and we have four tickets to give away for the 4.30pm show on Thursday 25 January.
If, like me, you’ve heard of Noggin but aren’t quite sure what it’s all about, I have it on good authority that it’s a saga set in the Lands of the North, where the black rocks stand guard against the cold sea, and the Men of the Northlands sit around their great log fires as they tell a tale. Third Party’s stage show is a journey of adventure and discovery, to battle the fearsome Ice Dragon, and foil the dastardly deeds of Noggin’s wicked uncle, Nogbad the Bad. It features silly Vikings, puppets and live music.

Noggin the Nog is at the Rose Theatre, Kingston from Thu 25 Jan – Sun 28 Jan.
